Barbara's Story
Life
(1) Bio - I graduated from high school in 1967 from Newport Harbor High, Newport Beach, CA after my dad moved his law practice to Newport in 1965. I had previously attended Arcadia High School from 1964-65. So I had friends in both places.
I completed my BA in Latin American studies at Chapman College in Orange, CA. after a stint in northern California. I moved to Florida for awhile and tried to delay growing up. It didn't work. I thought a pretty interesting career would be to go into the diplomatic field. Not a good idea at the very time when diplomats were getting kidnapped in South America. So at the ripe old age of 25, I decided to re-tool my goals away from oversees diplomatic work and go into Anthropology, and attended San Diego State. Yes, I wanted to travel and have a career at the same time, and I also wanted to stay alive. I went on to the University of Hawaii in 1980 for medical specialization in anthropology and returned to San Diego in 1983. IÂve been here ever since. I went into teaching and research at San Diego State University. The areas I work in are aging and public ...Expand for more
health. I figure if we are all going to be older for so much longer, and it sure looks like we will, we might as well do it with a lot of pizzazz and style. DonÂt you think??
(2) Family  I was married, then divorced and did not remarry. No children (my loss) but my sister had two kids and IÂm close to them. I have a significant other named Pete. HeÂs great and into sports.
(3) Sports: I enjoy adventures, scuba diving, sailing, hiking, traveling, (blew my knee out skiing but will try skiing again one day)
(4) For fitness: IÂm doing my best to improve flexibility (have you noticed changes???) while increasing heart rate for overall fitness. Yoga is really helping.
(5) To my friends from Arcadia who I havenÂt seen in years  itÂs been too long. I have funny little memories of when we were kids, in junior high, or high school. You continue to occupy space in my thoughts. Glad youÂre there.
(6) To my friends from Newport, many of whom I have seen at reunions, and more recent events, I think of each of you a lot.
My very best wishes to all of you, my dear friends. Barbara Du Bois
